Kathmandu/ KathmanduTrip Overview
Welcome! If you are here, it means you want to experience a journey that is something new and not very commonly taken. Allow Adventure Tansen Trek to present our Ama Dablam Base Camp trekking expedition, a fairy tale journey to the base of probably the most stunning mountain and the real crown jewel in the Everest, the Ama Dablam at 6812 m elevation.
This extraordinary journey will guide you along the well-known and mostly walked Everest trail, where spectacular views of numerous legendary peaks surround us every time.
Truly, the Ama Dablam Base camp trekking expedition is exceptional in itself as we traverse among some of the fearsome giants of the planet. However, the true attraction will be reaching the iconic base camp itself at 4600 m elevation on the northeastern side of the Pangboche Village in the Khumbu Valley.
Here, we will have in our sight the sharp razor like silhouettes of Kongde Ri (6187 m), Cholatse (6440 m), Khumbila (5761 m), Pumori (7165 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Taboche (6495 m), Nuptse (7861 m), Kusum Kanguru (6367 m), and of course, the splendid Ama Dablam.
Moreover, our extraordinary Ama Dablam Base Camp trek, 14 days adventure, will allow us to live alongside the iconic Sherpas, discovering their timeless Buddhist stupas, Mani walls, and monasteries.
We will walk and traverse the stunning currents of Dudh Koshi and Imja Rivers while also crossing their gorges and forests of rhododendrons. And, once we set out on the trail to the Ama Dablam Base Camp, we will see only a small number of trekkers transitioning from the crowded route to the secluded trail.
Thus, the Ama Dablam Base Camp trek offers you two uniquely beautiful experiences in the Himalayas. Starting from Kathmandu, an emotional flight will take you to Lukla, from where you will begin to move ahead to Namche Bazaar.
For excellent acclimatization, you will spend another night here walking up to Everest View Hotel (3880 m) and Khumjung Village. Then, meandering through the sacred grounds of Tengboche and Pangboche Monasteries, you will head up to the Ama Dablam Base Camp.
The Ama Dablam base camp trek itinerary will then slowly conclude as you return through Namche, Phakding, and Lukla to Kathmandu.
This moderate nature journey often comes under the shadow of the Everest Base Camp trek. But if you wish to experience some new mountain action in the Solukhumbu region beneath Everest, then the Ama Dablam Base Camp trekking expedition is just what you need.

We will get to know its vital monuments such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath. After soaking in the oriental atmosphere of the city, we will get back to our hotel and get a quick sleep.
NB
Kindly understand that we may need to begin our journey quite early, possibly around midnight, if there are no direct flights to Lukla from Kathmandu.
This happens during the very busy trekking and climbing seasons in autumn and spring, when TIA traffic gets quite congested. In such cases, we may need to fly to Lukla from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap, which is only about 4 hours away from Kathmandu.
We may have to get back to Kathmandu on the same route, and we will arrange for you a private transport for this 4-hour journey.

Another favorable timeframe for the Ama Dablam trek 14-day expedition is the spring in Nepal, occurring in March, April, and May. Although some infrequent rain may occur, but most days are clear and shining with sun. The rhododendrons particularly make the trekking the rout to Ama Dablam Base Camp very enthralling.

The only time to avoid will be the wettest months of June, July, and August for the threat of heavy thunderstorms and snowfall.

With the warm reception and cultural experience in the midst of Sherpas, to the natural accompaniment of the Sagarmatha National Park, the Ama Dablam Base Camp trekking trip is a whole, comfortable short trek in Nepal suitable for those who love to socialize or seek some peace in the Himalayas.
However, we advise individuals with issues concerning the heart and lungs to talk with their respective physicians before joining us in this trek.
Acute Mountain Sickness and Acclimatization are planned on our Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek Itinerary
Just like the higher altitudes of the Himalayas are an inevitable part of trekking in Nepal, so is the concern of altitude or acute mountain sickness/AMS.
This condition arises from the high elevations of the region. However, there are effective measures that we and you can employ to reduce and prevent its onset.
You should give your body enough time to get used to the high altitude, which mainly occurs when you are sleeping and resting. Thus, whenever you reach the high grounds, we encourage our participants to sleep early and rest.
For the provision of enough rest, we have placed a day off at Namche Bazaar when following the guideline of effective acclimatization, we will go higher and come back down to sleep lower.
However, the AMS signs can still be seen and felt, such as a slight headache and a slight loss. At this point, make sure to drink plenty: tea, soup, water, broth, juice, etc.
These symptoms usually go away, but if they worsen, do not ascend; rather, choose to go down by 200 to 500 m. In case of Diamox, you can use it in case of a severe, persistent condition of altitude sickness. Our guides are all well-prepared and trained, know the conditions, and know what, when, and how to do.
How to get ready for the Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek?
The Khumbu terrain will not be easy for you if you are not healthy and fit enough to tackle its ever-changing landscape. Sometimes there will be a deeply rising forest trail, and other times, there can be some steep climbing down along the inclined slope.
Therefore, we advise all our participants to get ready with the correct fitness regime to be able to overcome the challenges that Ama Dablam throws their way.
You can start with easy walks, short jogs, and runs along the even terrain for a few days. Then, you can jog or walk, or run longer distances or uneven terrain such as hills or ridges.
At home, you can do some squats, planks, or some pull-ups and push-ups with some weight lifting. Yoga nowadays has been the choice of a great many trekkers.
Once you think you are fit enough, go on trekking trips to 3000 m or above with a light daypack. Also, train yourself with the basic first aid skills such as treating infections, minor signs of AMS, and bandaging wounds.
Other Best Routes and Possible Extension of the Ama Dablam Base Camp Trekking Trip
You can prolong your Ama Dablam Base Camp trek itinerary by integrating a trek to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. From Ama Dablam Base Camp, you will continue via Pangboche to Dingboche.
Then, traversing Lobuche and Gorakshep, you can access the EBC and Kala Patthar. Or, you can also take a brief detour to Chhukung Village from Dingboche and ascend the 5550 m Chhukung Ri Ridge.
You can also choose to remain in Dingboche and attempt to climb the 5100 m Nagarjung Ridge. If you want more natural scenery, you can also think about traveling to Gokyo Lake and attempting the 5357 m high Gokyo Ri Ridge.
As for the other routes to reach Ama Dablam Base Camp, you can make your entire trek overland by opting to trek through Dhap or Bhandar to join the common EBC trail.
Or, you can go on along with our Ama Dablam Base Camp trek itinerary and instead of going to Namche, take the route via Thame, stay in Khumjung Village, and trek to Lukla the next day.
Sleeping, Eating, and Transport
For our Ama Dablam Base Camp trek, we have planned everything for you: your sleeping places, your eating arrangements, your permits, and your mode of travel.

Needed Permission for the Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek 14 Days Adventure
Since Ama Dablam Peak lies in the prohibited zone of the Sagarmatha National Park, we will need a permit for entry into the Park. This permit is called the Sagarmatha National Park permit, which our guide will get for you at NPR 3000 per traveler at Lukla, Monjo, or the Tourism Office of Kathmandu.
For the Ama Dablam Base Camp trek, we also need permission to get into the rural municipality of the Khumbu region. This permit is called the Khumbu Local Area permit, which again our guide will get from Lukla or Monjo at NPR 2000 each.
The fees and the processing service will be looked after by us.
Travel Insurance
The mountains and the Himalayas are known to people for their transitional behavior in terms of climate and sudden events. One moment, it can be sunny, and the next, dark clouds can roll in, resulting in rain, avalanches, or landslides.
You may get stuck in the trail, needing an immediate helicopter to get back to Kathmandu. You may be the victim of severe AMS or injuries from slips that may need urgent medical care.
Thus, because of all these risk factors, travel insurance has now become a must-have for anyone wanting to trek in the remote mountain areas of Nepal.
So, once you hook your Ama Dablam base camp trekking trip with us, we will also need your insurance policy number and a copy. Please understand that your regular insurance may not be appropriate for such trips in Nepal.
The correct travel insurance for any trekking trip should cover all the possible risks that come with high-altitude treks. For our Ama Dablam Base Camp trek 14 days journey, we recommend that you to have coverage extending up to 4600 m.
Additionally, all the medical costs if arise should also be the responsibility of your insurer. We also suggest you consider adding coverage for cancellation or delays of your travel plans or flight, any damage or loss, or theft of your personal gear and belongings, along with a few extended stays.
Be sure to find out that your insurance is active and works in Nepal.
