KathmanduTrip Overview
7385m Churen Himal lies west of Dhaulagiri Mountain and is one of the many 7000m+ peaks in this region. Easily accessible from Pokhara, this trek provides a unique opportunity to explore this area of remarkable natural beauty. The trek starts at Beni and follows the Myagdi river valley through hill villages, terraced paddy fields and up to the special Hunting Reserve at Dhorpatan. After a large Magar village at Gurjagaon, the trail climbs over Bundzunge Kharaka and finally to Churen Himal Base Camp at 4160m. The hills along the route will be covered with rhododendron forest and as you reach higher altitude, there is a chance of sighting wild herds of blue sheep or maybe even a snow leopard. A moderate trek, it will suit anyone with reasonable fitness wishing to trek away from the main trekking routes.
