KathmanduTrip Overview
This spectacular trek starts at Beni just a short drive north from Pokhara. Ascending up the lovely unspoiled valley of the Myagdi River, you will be walking through an ever changing landscape with numerous picturesque villages. The majority of the people in this region are Magars with their own distinct culture and traditions. After passing the upper most village of Pakoban, you will reach Italian and Japanese Base Camps before arriving at Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4740m). Next is the challenging 5360m French pass, enchanting Hidden Valley followed by another 5280m Dhampus pass before a steep descent to Jomsom for return flight back to Pokhara. You don’t need any technical climbing skills to tackle these high passes and acclimatisation periods are included in the itinerary.
The views of the great Dhaulagiri massif and surrounding peaks are considered by veterans of this trek to be exceptionally sensational. This is one of best and the most demanding of all the high altitude treks in Nepal and is only for those with previous high altitude trekking experience.
