KathmanduTrip Overview
The Everest Base Camp trek organized by the Adventure Tansen Trek is a journey that will take you to such a location on the planet where you will literally see the high Himalayas tearing the blue infinite sky.
If you have an adventurous spirit, a real hunger to see the best of nature, and seeking a sense of accomplishment, then our Everest base camp trek is made for you.
Our Everest Base Camp trek 17 days journey will ultimately lead you to the base camp that lies underneath the shadow of the Mother of all the Mountains that exist on the planet. At 5364 m elevation in the Khumbu region, this base camp has seen many record making moments. It has seen Tenzing and Hilary, it also has seen Bear Grylls and Mandy Moore.
Now it is waiting for you ready to take you to the domain dominated by the grand Everest. However, our EBC trek is not only about the base camp, but it is also about the adventure towards the 5644 m platform of Kala Patthar.
From this highest platform, you can look straight at Everest (8848 m), Changtse (7543 m), Pumori (7161 m), Khumbutse (6639 m), Nuptse (7861 m), Lobuche (6119 m), Ama Dablam (6812 m), Lingtren (6749 m), Lhotse (8516 m), and many similar peaks.
The EBC trekking journey begins with the most breathtaking Himalayan flight towards Lukla. Following the continuous edge of the Dudh Koshi River, you will then march into the dreamy land of the Sagarmatha National Park
The trail will then wind through the awe-inspiring terrain of Namche Bazaar where you will have the tremendous luck to spend two nights. It is the vital commercial center of the Khumbu region which will allow you to dine on the terrace of the tallest hotel on the planet- the Hotel Everest View (3880 m).
Now, the route of our EBC trek 17 days journey passes through the ancient jungles, and the very old monasteries of Pangboche, Tengboche and then Dingboche.
Then crossing the glacial streams and hiking past the towering snow giants, you will make it to Lobuche and Gorakshep. From here, you will rise to EBC where you will have a front-row seat to see the massiveness of Lhotse, Khumbu Icefall, Nuptse, and Khumbutse.
The following dawn will see you standing on the platform of the black stone walls of Kala Patthar. Once again, circling back through a similar track, you will then make yourself comfortable back in Kathmandu.
Our Everest base camp trek is thus a moderate physical journey whose route is also dotted with the five colored lungtas (prayer flags), stupa, and chortens reflecting the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual significance of the very hospitable Sherpa community.
Their warmth, services, and the friendliness will sparkle the adventure of this high-altitude adventure. The magnetic charm of our Everest Base Camp trek is much vibrant in Fall and Spring although the other seasons also offer equal allure.
To make the Everest Base Camp trek within everyone’s reach, the Adventure Tansen Trek has made this journey reasonable, affordable, flexible, and adaptable for guaranteed unforgettable experience to everyone.

Trip Information
The absence of rain, the very dry easily navigable tracks, and the clearly unobstructed scenery of the Himalayas are the three components that make any trekking journey enviable.
And, we can find these perfect elements for the perfect Everest base camp trek in the changing times of Fall/Autumn and Spring. The March, April, and May days welcome the spring weather of moderately charming heat, a pinkish shade of rhododendrons, and some little snow here and there.
September, October, and November greet the optimal autumn period with the most clearest, sunniest, and bluest sky ever with the delightfully pleasant heat both on day and night.
December, January, and February days are comparatively colder with snows on most parts of the trail but once the sun is up, the day is clearer with absolutely no sign of rain.
June, July, and August are less advisable for the monsoon precipitation, slippery and muddy roads with the dark skies that often hinder the Himalayas from rising before our eyes.
Everest Base Camp Trek 17 Days Adventure: Difficulties
The route of our Everest Base Camp 17 days journey offers you a medium-level class 2 difficulty comprising of moderate hiking tracks with non-technical demands.
The route is pretty simple and circular in nature and stretches to 130 km involving 4 to 6 hours of trekking every day. The maximum altitude you will reach in this journey is when you are at 5644 m height of Kala Patthar.
Being the most walked route, the tracks are now signposted and most of the trails are comparatively manageable. The lower Khumbu region will direct you through the calming shades of the forest while the upper part will lead you through the rocky alpine glacial route.
However, there will be two or three days that will push your efforts such as when approaching Namche, EBC, and Kala Patthar. The toughness of the trek derives from the higher altitude as most of your nights will occur above 4000 m.
So certainly, our EBC trek is both a physical and mental feat that can sometimes put you to the test, but gives you a palpable and overwhelming experience.
EBC Trekking: Eligible Participants
Our EBC trekking is not a grueling journey although it is a multi day hiking adventure. Our travel plan has been very carefully composed to make it reachable to every individual of different age, fitness, gender, skills, experience, and need.
Plus, our EBC trek 17 days adventure is an all-inclusive adventure where we look after not only your logistics but also your safety. That’s why, we have a very skilled expert guide following you and the strong porters to help carry your loads.
In addition, the sleeping and dining facilities en route also range from modest to premium ones so you will have no difficulty experiencing a warm restful night.
However, we definitely want our participants to be able to walk daily for 4 to 6 hours. We also want each of our participants to be very healthy and fit devoid of any serious illnesses.
The geographical location and the high altitude air of the Khumbu Valley often deteriorates the condition of those who have lungs and heart issues. So please reach out to your physicians before you undertake this multi day journey in the Himalaya.
Acute Mountain Sickness and Acclimatization
Our Everest Base Camp trek is a numerous day high altitude journey where you have to be cautious about the AMS known as Acute Mountain Sickness or altitude sickness.
This type of condition impacts any one of any gender, fitness, age, and experience. The sole way to avoid getting the AMS is through the proper and right process of acclimatization.
For this objective, we have three days offs placed in Kathmandu, Namche and then Dingbcohe so you will be completely comfortable when reaching the heights of EBC and Kala Patthar.
However, on the first few days, due to quick modification in the altitude, you may have the appearance of breathlessness, nausea, headaches, vertigo and fatigue.
In such case, you must slow down your journey, take the gentler pace, and hydrate yourself as much as you can. These are also the preventive steps against the onset of AMS.
If you like some help getting used to the rising altitude during the expedition, you can also opt to use Diamox. However, we suggest to take it only after prescription as it is a diuretic medication which have some contraindications.
Olease don’t stress as our guides are trained and knowledgeable to deal with these type of circumstances. After accessing your physical condition, he may descend you lower till you feel well again.
Training and Preparation for the EBC Trek 17 Days Adventure
Yes, the EBC trekking is not over challenging journey yet it will take you over extended period of time to higher Himalayan zone where you must involve in the daily long distance walking.
So, a right amount and type of training and prep is definitely essential for our Everest Base Camp trek. Although beneficial, but there is no need for you to go to gym as a prep.
You can just begin with simple walks in your local parks or small hills; just make you make it the habit of doing it regularly a week. Do not attempt the long distance in the initial phase of your training; undertake 2 to 3 km length at first and then increase it every week.
Additionally, practice stretching your body and legs each time you come home after your walks. Incorporating rest days as well as continuous training is also not advantageous.
Because our legs and heart will be the ones taking most burden during the journey, ensure you make them strong through stair climbing. Then, take on the challenge of s single day hike which you can then increase to multi day reaching minimum 3000 m.
As your fitness improves, mix in aerobic activities like running, swimming, and cycling for your overall body fitness.
Sleeping, Eating, and Transport
A calming centrally situated three star rated accommodation will be pre-organized for your stay when in Kathmandu. The rooms will be double sharing with two large single beds along with an attached bathroom, 24 hour hot water and WiFi.
On the way to Everest Base Camp, a good quality mountain tea house will offer you cozy nights and dinner. Many tea houses along the Everest route are now well-constructed which can now offer you attached baths, showers, and WiFi.
However, they can still be modest in the higher Everest zone but they remain comfortable for a relaxing evening. As for our eating arrangements for you, in Kathmandu, a tasty breakfast willbe offered each morning while three times meals await you on the way to Everest.
Likewise, we have also pre-organized your transportation as well that includes all the flights and ground transportation. A private transport with our driver will be on your service for your arrivals, departures, Kathmandu city tour, and Manthali transfer.
We will also assist you in arranging your air travel to Lukla from Kathmandu or Ramechhap.
Permits Obligatory for the Everest Base Camp trek
Two permits are absolutely necessary for undertaking our Everest Base Camp trek 17 days journey. One is the permit which will grant us entry into the National park land of Sagarmatha and the other one is the municipality permit for the Khumbu rural area.
The permit for stepping into the Khumbu municipality is available in Lukla or Monjo which our guide will arrange for you at the payment of US Dollars 25 per trekker.
The permit for gaining access into the National park of Everest is available from the tourism office in Kathmandu or at Lukla that needs the payment of also US Dollars 25 per trekker.
The affiliated permit fees are already part of our comprehensive Everest Base Camp trek package.
Travel Insurance
Whether you are targeting Everest or its base camp, unseen dangers always exist in any type of trekking trips especially those taking place in the Himalayas.
So it is always necessary and wise to be prepared for such unseen risks associated with any mountain journey and the best preparation include getting the right type of travel insurance policy.
When you are hiking farther corners like of the Everest region, any events can occur at least expected time. The sunny weather can suddenly change to heavy thunder and snow storm. You may get stranded and in need of search operation.
You may accidentally fall and get fractured bones or suddenly suffer from serious AMS or any other ailments that may need surgical intervention.
If you decide to handle the associated expenses on your own, you may end up paying thousands of dollars apart from your trek package cost. So we suggest you always get the right insurance before you set on for your Everest Base Camp trek.
Besides, insurance has been made obligatory for the high altitude treks in Nepal such as the EBC trek. Make sure, your insurance will assist you in search, rescue, and transportation to the altitude above 5500 m by helicopter.
Also check your policy if it will cover your medical and hospital costs, your extended stays, postponement of your trip costs, flight delays or luggage misplace. In short, your travel insurance should protect you against all financial odds that may take place during your international trekking trips.
