KathmanduTrip Overview
There have not been many climbing expeditions to the Ganesh Himal which may have been the reason why this region was neglected as a trekking destination. The Government of Nepal decided to introduce this region to tourist quite recently, after carefully evaluating the great potential this area has as a prime destination for trekkers. The trek is ideal for those wanting to escape from the more popular regions of Annapurna and Everest. You will get a glimpse into real Nepali rural lifestyle and an opportunity to observe the rich cultural tradition of the people.
The Ganesh Himal Circuit trek is a circuit and can be done either by going up the Budhi Gandagi valley or the Trisuli and Bhote Kosi valley. Our trek starts at Kespang about 7 hours drive North from Kathmandu and follows the Trisuli valley before climbing up to the ridge that runs down from the Ganesh Himal. After crossing the 4400m high Sing La pass, the trail follows the Budhi Gandagi valley south to the finish point at Aurghat. This is an eight days walk through a fairly remote region and throughout the trek you hardly come across any foreign trekkers.
