Jungle Safari and WalkingTrip Overview
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Safari has carved a place it self as a birdwatchers’s paradise. The reserve spreads over saptari and Sunsari district in eastern south of Nepal defined by the eastern and western embankments of River Koshi. The reserve has been recognized as wetland site from 1987. The vegetation of the reserve is mainly grassland with patches of scrub and deciduous reverine forest that makes Koshi tappu special is that birds seen here are not found other part of Nepal. The reserve has recorded around 439 species of bird variety. Some of which fly all the way from Siberia during winter. A wide variety of Ducks, herons, storks egrets, ibis are seen on the River bank. It has one of the few elephant stables of Asia. Other animals are found here are wild buffalo wild boar, hog deer, spotted deer, blue bell and jackal. Gharial Crocodile and Gangetic dolphin are other attractions. The best time to visit Koshi Tappu is between Octobers to April.
Itinerary of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Safari
Day 01: Arrival at the Reserve
Arrival and transfer to your hotel. You will take a short bird watching tour around the marshland. In the evening, you will enjoy a Nepali dinner.

Day 02: Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve
Today you will make a full day excursion in the reserve on a four wheeler and on a boat. Our vehicle will take you around the reserve. The excursion will take you across the forest where you can see waterfowl, birds of prey, marsh crocodile, otters, wild water buffalo and freshwater dolphins. This reserve is home to 20 duck species, 2 species of ibises, many storks, egrets and herons. You can also find the swamp partridge and Bengal florican here. In the evening you will enjoy a cultural dance program followed by dinner.

Day 03: Koshi Tappu Bird Walk and More
Today you will begin by doing some bird – watching. You will go for a walk inside the reserve on grasslands with packed – lunch to see the swamp partridge and the black – necked stork among other beautiful migratory birds. After lunch, you can take an elephant safari. This is a wonderful way to view Arna, the wild water buffalo. You can also see the blue bull (Nilgai) and the hog deer. You return back to the lodge in the evening.

Day 04: Departure
After breakfast you depart for your onward destination.
