Trip Overview

Mera Peak Climbing is the most populer trekking peak in Nepal and provides an excellent opportunity and challenge for a first-time climb in the Himalayas. Although the highest trekking peak at 6654m, it is not a technical climb and on a good day, you can trek to the summit without any difficulty. Mera Peak is the approach through the traditional Sherpa villages of the Solu Khumbu and the blue pine and rhododendron forest trails of the Hinku Valley, just east of the airstrip at Lukla. This exceptionally beautiful route provides excellent acclimatisation time before the ascent to the peak. After setting up the base camp at around 5300m past the final lodge at Khare, it is a two days hard trek to the summit for an unforgettable view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Makalu.

You can return to Lukla or extend the trek to include Island Peak by going further north up the Hunku valley and crossing the 5845m Amphu Labtsa pass.
