ParoTrip Overview
Snowman trek is the most popular trek in Bhutan as well most difficult trek in Bhutan, because one has to walk and camp at high altitude for nearly three weeks. Lunana region is to step back to the 7th century when Buddhist had just reached the land and it is ancient Buddhist religious site. Along the journey trekkers get magnificent back dropped views of Himalayan peaks with beautiful hamlet. Bhutan Snowman Trek crosses dozen of 5000 meter high passes, thus completing a traverse of the northern border with Tibet and thereby seeing all the unnamed as well as unclimbed 7000 meter peaks. Bhutan’s pristine landscape, wonderful people, fascinating Buddhist culture, turquoise – tinted lakes and high altitude wildlife like snow leopard and blue sheep round out the trek’s highlights. Until 1994 this area was strictly off limits to foreigners. Trekking into Bhutan ‘s central mountain range, this trip follows yak herders trails across high passes and travels among some of the last virgin peaks of the Himalaya, in a breath – taking landscape that has seen relatively few visitors.
