KathmanduTrip Overview
The Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek takes place within the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). Not many have heard of Tharpu Chuli peak because it is not as huge as the others, and is graded as a trekking peak. It is also known as Tent Peak and reaches a total height of 5663 meters, which will be the highest point of our trek. Regarded as one of the most accessible trekking peaks in Nepal, this beautiful Himalayan trek offers an experience through a diverse landscape with amazing natural scenery all the way through.
This peak climbing trek is best for people who want to experience summiting a peak, without the technical aspect that comes with mountain climbing. Generally, peak climbing is something that takes weeks and even months to complete since you have to acclimate well and spend a few days at the base camp. But trekking peaks are different as they can be done in a short time period and require fewer acclimatization days.
Throughout the route, we will get to experience the local culture of the Gurung and Magar communities that have spread throughout the Annapurna region. We will be spending our nights in traditional countryside villages that often put on a traditional show for visitors. This means there won’t be a lack of traditional and cultural experiences. We will also visit many chortens and a couple of monasteries during the Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek.
This trekking experience is a mixture of well-kept and rugged trails with many ascents and descents. We will also cross a plethora of suspension bridges over many rivers and traverse over glaciers. Although it is very non-technical, you still need to have some level of prior trekking experience and adequate physical training to complete this trek.
Here are more things that you need to know about the Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek. Go through this detailed trek package breakdown to understand what you can expect from this journey to the Himalayas.

Trip Information
How does our trip start?
The Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. This will be your first day of the journey. On the 2nd day, we will prepare for the trek, pack all the essentials, and day tour of the valley of Kathmandu for a historic and religious experience. On the third day, we will finally travel to Pokhara, either by road or air. We will spend the night in Pokhara and drive to Nayapul, which is the starting point of this trek.
Difficulty
The Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek is graded as a moderately difficult trek that requires a bunch of trekking gear and climbing equipment. This journey is not meant for inexperienced trekkers since it features many difficult aspects that can be very challenging for beginners. The best thing about this trek is the fact that you will get to summit a peak without any prior mountaineering experience. However, it will be a challenge as you have to climb and hike icy trails that are slippery and full of crevasses.
Best seasons
The best seasons for the Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek are definitely spring and autumn. During springtime, the weather is stable with clear blue skies for the most part. The daytime temperature remains very mild, which is perfect for trekking and climbing. Since the weather stays clear, the views are amazing all around. Spring is also the flowering season, which means that you will get to experience the vibrant Rhododendron flowers of many shades of red, pink, and white.
Autumn season is the other best option, which is a period after the monsoon. The monsoon rain clears out all the smog and dust in the air, offering the clearest view. Many festivals are celebrated during this season, along with the main festivals of Nepal, Dashain and Tihar. Autumn also features very minimal chances of rain, which is a great trait for any outdoor activity.
Altitude Sickness
The highest elevation we will reach on this Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek is 5663 meters above sea level, which is a considerable height. But we will not be spending extended time there, making it less likely to get altitude sickness. We will be spending a total of five nights at an elevation higher than 4000 meters. This can get us altitude sickness, but we will spend a day acclimatizing and practice all the preventive measures.
We are pretty safe from altitude sickness on this journey, but if you do contract the illness, you can just take a pill and it’ll be gone. In addition to that, the Adventure Tansen trek guide will check your blood oxygen levels every night and morning to look for early signs of altitude sickness.
Accommodation, Food and Drink
Accommodation during the trekking days will be in local tea houses that are the heart of any Himalayan trekking journey. These tea houses offer just the basic amenities, and you can also get laundry services at some, along with WiFi and hot showers. The extra services come at a price, which will not be covered by our standard Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek package.
The food options are based on the seasonal ingredients, while you will also get items like sandwiches, pizza, burgers, spaghetti, and more at the lower region eateries. Once we get to the remote highlands, food options are limited to traditional dishes. Your drink options are hot tea, instant coffee, fruit juice, and soda.
Transportation
Our Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing itinerary requires us to travel (by air or land) to Pokhara from Kathmandu. But before that, we will roam the valley of Kathmandu in a private vehicle. After reaching Pokhara, we will drive to Nayapul the next day, and at the end of the trek, we will drive back to Pokhara, and take a flight back to Kathmandu. These are all the transportation expenses that our standard package will cover.
Permit
For this trek, you will need to have the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit and the Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing Permit. Both of these are a part of our standard trek package.
Trip preparation and fitness
To prepare for this trek, we recommend that trekkers hike, jog, or engage in cardio exercise. You need to prepare yourself physically for at least 12 to 14 weeks before the start of the trek. This will give you enough time to increase your endurance and get habitual to the physical stress that the trek will demand.

The cost of our Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing trek package is USD _______ per person. This package will cover your transportation expenses, daily accommodation, 3 meals per day during the trekking days, permit fees, local taxes, daily wages of the crew members, and more.
